DOVU reached a milestone that most crypto projects never cross. The team confirmed full distribution of the DOVU utility token. Additionally, a new token called TRUST launched to power writes to a credentialing layer called Authority Trail. Together, the two updates redefine how DOVU handles workflows, authority, and long-term value flow across its Hedera-based ecosystem.

Full Distribution Reshapes DOVU’s Role
DOVU launched roughly a decade ago and began its token journey in 2017. Today, the project sits at 10 billion tokens in full circulation, with no remaining emissions. Around 58% of that circulating supply stays locked in non-custodial staking. Meanwhile, on-chain activity remains strong, and DOVU transactions represented 23.03% of all Hedera Token Service transactions on June 23, 2026. As a result, DOVU behaves less like an emissions-driven asset and more like a fixed-supply ecosystem anchor.
Distribution completion also frees the team to shift resources. CTO Matt Smithies noted that much of his focus over the past 18 months has moved toward Authority Trail. Other team members can now push forward on DOVU OS features without competing for engineering attention. Consequently, the token economics stabilize while product velocity increases. That combination rarely appears in crypto projects at this stage of a token’s life cycle.
DOVU OS Records the Workflow
DOVU OS sits underneath the entire product stack. The system records interactions between parties over time to produce verifiable digital assets. Carbon credits remain the flagship output, but the pattern applies to any real-world asset. A supplier submits data, a validator reviews it, and each step lands on Hedera as a public event. Additionally, every asset carries a searchable audit trail that behaves more like a database record than a static certificate.
Smithies compared the design to a warehouse of unlabeled cans. Every asset shares the same structural guarantees, and metadata makes the contents searchable, filterable, and indexable. That standardization matters for enterprises that need to query thousands of tokenized items at once. For example, buyers can filter carbon credits by scope, verification method, or report type across projects. That single-view capability makes DOVU OS usable for supply chain records, tokenized real-world assets, and issued digital certificates.
Authority Trail Adds a Credentialing Layer
DOVU OS handles the workflow, but Authority Trail answers a different question. Who was authorized to act, in which role, and during what time window? The protocol records credentials, delegations, renewals, and revocations directly on Hedera. The result is a real-time public authority state that any consumer can query. Buyers, auditors, and regulators can then verify whether a signer held valid credentials at the moment of action.
The design remains fully non-custodial. No single entity controls another party’s keys, and users can bring wallets from HashPack, Kabila, or hardware providers. In addition, the system supports domain-linked identifiers for readable identity across wallets, projects, and assets. That structure enables NFT provenance where a collector can trace an asset back to a domain, an account, and an authorized creator. The Authority Trail portal exposes those records for external verification.
TRUST Meters Every Authority-State Write
TRUST launched with 100 billion tokens and four decimal places. The design targets high-frequency, granular writes that DOVU was never built to meter. Every consequential write to Authority Trail requires a TRUST payment. Nothing bypasses the fee, and the token integrates tightly with the protocol. Smithies described the coupling as being about as tight as a token can be to its network.
DOVU staked holders received a vested airdrop of TRUST at launch to reward long-term alignment. The TRUST supply dashboard tracks live circulation, fee flow, and inflation transparency from day one. Notably, DOVU continues to serve as the ecosystem anchor, and all value ultimately flows back to DOVU holders. TRUST handles the granular write economics, while DOVU captures workflow-level consumption. That split lets each token serve a distinct role without competing for utility.
Use Cases Extend Beyond Carbon
Authority Trail applies to more than ecological assets. Supply chain participants can prove seed origin, farmer credentials, and lot measurements against defined compliance boxes. Manufacturing teams can filter thousands of assembly documents down to a single verified component certificate. NFT creators can link on-chain assets to a wallet, an account, and a domain name for provenance. Ecosystem partners including B Carbon and verified agroforestry projects from the Amazon Basin already ledger issuance through the system.
The credentialing approach also solves an increasingly urgent problem. Roles inside organizations change constantly, and static credentials leave room for fraud when authority expires. Authority Trail resolves that gap by making authorization a real-time query rather than a stored assumption. As AI increases the volume of automated actions and content, provable identity and delegated authority become mandatory for compliance-sensitive workflows. Consequently, the protocol positions itself as infrastructure for enterprise adoption rather than another consumer token.
What This Means for Hedera’s RWA Stack
The launch positions Hedera as one of the first networks with a public authority-state protocol. That protocol now ties directly into a live RWA pipeline through DOVU OS. Enterprise integrations become easier to sell because the trust model matches existing compliance workflows. Meanwhile, transparency dashboards give holders live visibility into fees, inflation, and supply mechanics from launch day. For ecosystem participants, the pairing of DOVU and TRUST creates a fixed-supply anchor with a purpose-built write layer, and both tokens now serve distinct roles inside the same trust operating system.
