February 8, 2024 Genfinity News Recap
Welcome to the February 8, 2024 edition of the Genfinity News Recap! As you navigate through your busy workday, staying informed about the latest developments in the realm of Web3 and finance can be a challenge. However, we are here to provide you with a concise overview of the most significant news you might have overlooked today.
Ethereum Staking
As trading heats up, all eyes are on $ETH. Nansen’s data shows that 30.2 million Ethereum are currently being staked by the Web3 community. This totals around $72 billion.
Being the pioneer in smart contracts, Ethereum gained traction as the first decentralized supercomputer. As Bitcoin led cryptocurrencies, Ethereum conversely introduced new smart contract functionalities. Consequently, Ethereum’s pioneering utility, upgrades, and popularity has only strengthened its reputation since its inception.

Artificial intelligence
The Information obtained exclusive information from artificial intelligence company, OpenAI. CoinTelegraph also summarized the information today. Reportedly, OpenAI develops an autonomous AI assistant that can control devices to perform tasks. Until OpenAI discloses its intentions, speculation remains about the AI’s capabilities. The Information’s report suggests the AI system can operate devices for users’ tasks. For instance, it can copy data between platforms. Presumably, an AI with device privileges can perform human tasks like swiping or typing.
Polygon
CoinDesk reported that Polygon Labs introduced a “Type 1 prover,” enabling EVM-compatible networks to join Polygon’s ecosystem using zero-knowledge proofs. This breakthrough, noted previously by Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin, aligns with Polygon’s 2.0 roadmap. The prover connects existing EVM chains to Polygon’s Aggregation layer seamlessly, expanding access to Ethereum’s liquidity. While the Type 1 prover enhances compatibility with Ethereum, its computation-intensive ZK-proofs pose challenges.
