Stablecoin holders in the U.S. have long faced an awkward choice. They could keep idle dollars onchain, or they could exit to a bank to earn Treasury yield. Now, WisdomTree and MoonPay want to close that gap with a new strategic collaboration. The deal centers on the WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund, which trades under the ticker WTGXX. Specifically, eligible U.S. investors will gain the ability to buy WTGXX shares using stablecoins. MoonPay Institutional and MoonPay Trade supply the underlying infrastructure, and MoonPay says the feature goes live this year. As a result, a dollar can move from a stablecoin wallet into a regulated Treasury fund without touching a traditional brokerage account.

What WTGXX Actually Is
WTGXX is not a stablecoin, and that distinction matters. Instead, it operates as a Rule 2a-7 money market mutual fund registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. The fund holds short-term U.S. Treasury bills, Treasury floating-rate notes, and repurchase agreements. Additionally, it targets a stable $1.00 net asset value, charges a 0.25% expense ratio, and accepts a $1 minimum. Dividends accrue daily and pay out monthly in cash, stablecoins, or reinvested shares. Meanwhile, WisdomTree records the fund’s shares as tokens across eight networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Stellar, Base, and Avalanche.
The fund has grown quickly. According to securities.io, WTGXX held about $876 million at the end of April 2026. Today, RWA.xyz tracks roughly $1.23 billion in WTGXX onchain. That figure ranks it fifth among tokenized Treasury products, behind BlackRock’s BUIDL, Circle’s USYC, Ondo’s USDY, and Franklin Templeton’s BENJI.
Why MoonPay’s Distribution Changes the Math
WisdomTree already sells WTGXX through its broker-dealer, WisdomTree Securities, along with its Prime wallet and Connect platform. However, those channels mostly reach users who already know WisdomTree. MoonPay, by contrast, brings over 35 million accounts and more than 1,700 business partners. Consequently, WisdomTree is building a new access point that plugs its tokenized funds into MoonPay’s technology. Importantly, MoonPay does not act as a broker-dealer or investment adviser for WTGXX. Rather, it provides the rails, while WisdomTree Securities keeps its role as distributor.
WisdomTree founder and CEO Jonathan Steinberg framed the logic plainly. “Money moves differently today, and investing needs to keep pace,” he said. He added that MoonPay gives eligible investors another path to deploy their assets into WTGXX.
The Institutional Stack Behind the Deal
MoonPay spent most of 2026 assembling the pieces this partnership needs. In April, it acquired Sodot and launched MoonPay Institutional, a unit built for banks, asset managers, and trading firms. Notably, former acting CFTC Chairman Caroline D. Pham leads that division. Then in May, MoonPay launched MoonPay Trade, an execution layer built on its acquisition of Decent.xyz. Trade routes transactions across more than 200 chains and settles in over 120 fiat currencies. Furthermore, MoonPay holds a New York BitLicense, a New York limited purpose trust charter, and U.S. money transmitter licenses.
Pham tied the WisdomTree deal directly to that buildout. “This year, we have seen rapid adoption of blockchain infrastructure and tokenization of financial assets to expand investor access,” she said.
WTGXX Doubles as a Reserve Asset
The partnership also runs in the other direction. Specifically, MoonPay plans to use WTGXX as part of its own stablecoin reserve management. This move lets MoonPay park reserve dollars in a regulated Treasury fund that settles onchain. In practice, the setup mirrors how Circle uses USYC and how several issuers use BUIDL. Moreover, WTGXX now supports 24/7 trading with instant settlement. WisdomTree launched that capability in February 2026 after receiving SEC exemptive relief. Under the model, WisdomTree Securities trades from its own inventory against USDC at any hour. Therefore, a reserve manager can move between cash and yield without waiting for T+1 settlement.
What Comes Next
Both companies describe this deal as a foundation rather than a one-off integration. They plan to pursue additional tokenized fund opportunities together, including in global markets. Meanwhile, the broader category keeps expanding. RWA.xyz currently tracks about $15.4 billion in tokenized U.S. Treasury funds across nearly 79,000 holders. Still, most of that capital sits with institutions and crypto-native protocols. If MoonPay’s consumer and partner network adopts WTGXX, retail stablecoin holders could become a meaningful new buyer base. Ultimately, the launch later this year will show whether everyday users want Treasury yield inside their crypto wallets.
