Grayscale Files for First U.S. Chainlink ETF

Grayscale’s ETF filing could bring Chainlink to institutional portfolios. Here's a quick breakdown of how the proposed LINK ETF works and why it matters.

On September 5, 2025, Grayscale filed to convert its Grayscale Chainlink Trust into a spot Chainlink ETF under the ticker GLNK on NYSE Arca. The ETF would offer regulated exposure to LINK without requiring investors to hold the token directly.

Coinbase Custody will secure the LINK tokens, while BNY Mellon will manage fund administration. Initially, share creation and redemption will use cash transactions, with in-kind options possible later. Grayscale also noted that staking could be added in the future, depending on regulatory guidance.

Why It Matters

Chainlink supports decentralized data infrastructure and secures $20B+ in value across DeFi, insurance, and enterprise platforms. The network recently expanded partnerships with Swift, DTCC, and ANZ, reinforcing its role in traditional finance.

Following the ETF news, LINK jumped 3% to over $23, while daily trading volume increased by 54%, hitting $815M. The filing reflects a broader trend—institutional interest is moving beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum toward utility tokens with real-world use.

Grayscale’s GLNK could set the stage for more regulated altcoin ETFs. If approved, it would help traditional investors access critical Web3 infrastructure through familiar financial tools.
